Advice for First Time Casino Poker Players

When you sit down at a live Poker table, you have to be aware of several things to make it easier for you to play. Although some players may feel uncomfortable about playing in a live room, there are ways that you can make things easier for yourself.

The first, and most important thing to remember is to know and observe the rules of the game. You do not want to be the one who continually asks the dealer how the game works. That will slow things down and will not help establish good rapport with the other players on the table.

A rule that you will have to keep in mind is that some Poker rooms require that you put up an amount equivalent to the big blind before you play, although this is not always necessary. Check the rules first.

Another thing that you should do when playing in a live casino Poker room is to call out your actions. If you are going to call, raise or fold, say it out loud followed by the appropriate placing of your chips. Doing so will make it easier to determine what you want to do, both for yourself, the other players and the dealer.

When placing a bet, grab all the chips at once and place them in the middle. Do not do it one at a time, as the other chips will not count. Another thing about chips: arrange them in stacks: this will make it easier to make bets.

You should always place something on top of your Poker cards, like a chip or some other small item that you may be holding. This will indicate that your cards are live. If you leave your hand unprotected and they get hit by a dead card, your hand will be declared invalid for that game as well.

Finally, when you win, never give up your Poker hand until you are handed the pot. Always ask for the pot first. When you have it, then you can turn over your hand to the dealer. This is not to suggest that the dealer will swindle you of the pot; rather it is to make sure that there will be no confusion as to who actually won in the hand.

Always remember these guidelines as you play in a live Poker room, and you will not only find it easier to play in live card rooms, but you will also be a profitable and winning player too.
